There are four banks categorised as a KBMI, or bank with total capital across group holdings above US$ 4.86 billion (IDR 70 trillion). They are Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, Bank Central Asia, and Bank Negara Indonesia. According to the central bank, operating efficiency is measured through BOPO, with a maximum limit of 90%. BOPO is a proxy indicator that measures operating expense to operating income. The four KBMIs have shown improvements in its operating efficiencies. For 2021, BOPO ratios for BCA, Mandiri, BRI, and BNI are 54.15%, 67.26%, 74.3%, and 81.18% respectively.  Spokesperson from all KBMIs shared that digital transformation, through strategic partners and digital product innovations, can further drive up operating efficiency.
