Data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) shows that 70% of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia have yet to access financing from banks, due to weak financial assets and poor data transparency. Consequently, fintech companies plan to leverage technology to target these MSMEs. One use case is to effectively credit score borrowers without credit history and/or guarantees. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communication and Information (Komifo) is working on the regulations concerning data privacy and security of borrowers to develop alternative credit models.
