State-owned banks are optimistic about the economic recovery, with a number of banks projecting credit growth to reach 10% by 2022. Both BRI and BTN estimate that credit distribution in 2022 to have year-on-year growth at 8-10%. BRI’s lending focus remains on the MSME sector, while BTN’s focus is on private mortgages (KPR) and corporate developers. Bank Mandiri has yet to mention their growth targets for next year. Its priority sectors are telecommunications, healthcare, food & beverage, and plantations. These credit growth forecasts are in line with the low interest rates from Bank Indonesia, at benchmark rates of 3.5%.
