Online credit platform company, Kredivo, is optimistic for the consumer facing buy now pay later (“PayLater”) product to gain more traction next year. Indonesia’s consumer behaviour has become increasingly digitized, with more consumers expecting seamless experience when making purchases. There has been increasing public confidence in using a PayLater for purchase of valuable goods, and Kredivo expects this consumer behaviour and confidence to spillover to purchase of essential products. Katadata Insight Center’s (KIC) research director, Mulya Amri, shared that out of 3,560 respondents in a survey, 27% of them have used PayLater for purchases. The report also supports the view that PayLater is increasingly a good credit alternative for younger consumers, aged below 38.
