The Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) has calculated the investment needed to accelerate the net zero emission (NZE) target or zero carbon emissions by 2050, especially for the electricity, transportation and industrial infrastructure sectors after 2030. IESR Executive Director, Fabby Tumiwa shared that Indonesia requires at least an investment of US$ 20-25 billion per year from 2020 to 2030, to increase decarbonization efforts. Fabby added that, from 2030 to 2050, the green investment needed will be at US$45-60 billion per year to achieve decarbonization. Finally, Fabby outlined the need for Indonesia to invest in resource and capability mapping of critical sectors for energy transition, to accommodate large volumes of investments.
